King, Queen receive Zayed Award for Human Fraternity 2022

Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan received the 2022 Zayed Award for Human Fraternity under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

It was in the presence of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Al Safadi, that the award was presented. Hosted at the Founders Memorial in Abu Dhabi, the ceremony was given in recognition of Their Majesties’ efforts to promote human fraternity, respect for others, and peaceful coexistence. FOKAL, a Haitian humanitarian organization, was also presented with the award.

Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmad Al Tayyib and His Holiness Pope Francis attended the ceremony virtually and congratulated Their Majesties for being role models for fraternity and coexistence. During their speeches, they praised Their Majesties’ commitment to promoting the values of coexistence and dialogue between different religious traditions, in the fight against discrimination, and for the empowerment of young people and women.

The award is given by the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity, an independent international committee established to advance human fraternity values in communities around the world and fulfill the goals of the Document on Human Fraternity, which was signed by Grand Imam of Al Azhar Sheikh Ahmad Al Tayyib and Pope Francis in Abu Dhabi in 2019.
